Role & Responsibilities

  • Design product architecture proposals in collaboration with project managers.
  • Create and validate component definition and design justification files.
  • Define development schedules and budgets for components in alignment with project objectives.
  • Manage the Request For Proposal process with Purchasing and suppliers.
  • Conduct Make or Buy studies with Purchasing and Engineering teams.
  • Oversee the homologation process for materials and components in collaboration with Quality.
  • Lead task forces for problem-solving with involved departments and suppliers.
  • Monitor component project communication with Project Management, Purchasing, Engineering, Quality, and suppliers.

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree with a minimum of 10 years' experience in mechanical design.
  • Experience in technical design for consumer goods such as automotive, travel, sports, or electronic devices.
  • Expertise in major plastic and metal transformation and decoration processes.
  • Proficiency in composites material and processes, foam, textile, and leather transformation processes is appreciated.
  • Fluency in English; German language skills are a plus.

Skills

Effective communication skills. Operational skills in SolidWorks; CAD proficiency is a plus. Creative and curious mindset to drive new concepts.

Experience

A minimum of 10 years' experience in mechanical design, particularly in consumer goods technical design such as automotive, travel, sports, or electronic devices.

Education

Engineering degree required.

Workplace

The successful candidate will be located in Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.
