1. Ensure the proper fit of garments
2. Answer customer questions regarding alterations, fit, repair, cleaning, or care
3. Mark garments for tailoring
4. Sew needed alterations within the alteration schedule provided to customers
5. Press garments
6. Repair garments when appropriate
7. Maintain orderly appearance of tailor shop and keep supplies stocked
8. Ensure that all equipment such as sewing machines, pressers, and steamers are well-maintained
9. Use proper telephone etiquette when answering the phone and taking messages
10. Communicate customer requests to management
11. Help solve problems and make informed suggestions that affect the service and productivity of the tailor shop
12. Hang and store customers' altered and unaltered merchandise in a neat and organized manner
13. Participate in store meetings and training seminars as necessary
14. Arrive to work at designated time and work full designated shifts
15. Comply with all company policies and procedures

1. Previous experience as a tailor, seamstress, or fitter
2. Ability to operate all equipment necessary to perform the job
3. Physical ability to stand for extended periods and handle heavy garments
4. Strong interpersonal, communication, organization, and follow-through skills
5. Ability to work varied hours/days, including nights, weekends, and holidays
6. Willingness to adhere to all company policies, procedures, regulations, and standards

1. High-quality workmanship in alterations, repairs, and pressing
2. Accurate marking and pinning of garments for alteration
3. Understanding of fit issues and making appropriate recommendations
4. Knowledge of garment care instructions
5. Outstanding customer service skills
6. Clear and concise communication
7. Ability to read, count, and write to accurately complete documentation
8. Time management in a fast-paced environment

Minimum 5 years
