- Produce Purdey shotguns and rifles, ensuring timely delivery, adherence to budget, and compliance with quality standards.
- Assist in the development of products, technology, tooling, and processes to uphold the highest standards of craftsmanship.
- Engage in all craftsmanship and machining processes for current and future Purdey products.
- Support the Technical department with feedback and advice during CAD/CAM development.
- Identify new processes, tooling, and methods to enhance quality and reliability.
- Support Craft managers in organizing and developing workshop activities.
- Promote continuous improvement in quality, productivity, output, and teamwork.
- Explain the craft process to visitors and customers positively and courteously.
- Ensure a safe working environment by following procedures and using safety equipment.
- Participate in maintaining and developing the culture and professional standards of the brand.
- Contribute to achieving high standards of quality in finished products, aiming to reduce rework.
- Assist in acquiring and maintaining tooling to optimize quality and cost while preserving the brand's bespoke reputation.
- Support the implementation of processes to achieve company objectives.
- Assist in the cost-effective and timely maintenance of factory equipment and machinery.
- Safeguard information to maintain the intellectual property and product excellence of Purdey products.
- Time-served Gun Making Apprentice, ideally certified by The London Proof House.
- BTEC Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant subject is advantageous.
- Strong craft knowledge in a specialist area and a broad understanding of gun making.
- Organized and positive attitude with a commitment to product development.
- Effective communication, teamwork, and motivational skills.
- Strong work ethic with the ability to maintain high quality standards.
- Ability to interact effectively with all company levels and customers.
- Problem-solving skills and resourcefulness.
Experience as a gun making apprentice with a comprehensive understanding of craftsmanship and machining processes in firearms production.
BTEC Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent is preferred.
