Purdey Gunmaker

- Produce Purdey shotguns and rifles, ensuring timely delivery, adherence to budget, and quality standards.
- Assist in the development of products, technology, tooling, and processes to uphold craftsmanship and quality.
- Engage in all craftsmanship and machining processes for current and future Purdey products.
- Support the Technical department by providing feedback and advice during CAD/CAM development.
- Identify and implement new processes, tooling, and methods to enhance quality and reliability.
- Support Craft managers in organizing and developing workshop activities.
- Promote continuous improvement in quality, productivity, output, and teamwork.
- Explain the craft process to visitors and customers courteously.
- Maintain a safe working environment by following procedures and using safety equipment.
- Participate in achieving high standards of quality in finished products, aiming to reduce rework.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the production schedule to ensure timely delivery.
- Assist in acquiring and implementing new tooling and technology to optimize quality and cost.
- Support the maintenance of factory equipment and machinery.
- Safeguard intellectual property and product excellence of Purdey products.
- Completion of a Gunmaking Apprenticeship, ideally certified by The London Proof House.
- Favorable consideration for new craft apprentices with a BTEC Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Strong craft knowledge in gunmaking with a broad understanding across all areas.
- Organizational skills with a commitment to product improvement and development.
- Effective communication, teamwork, and motivational skills.
- Reliable work ethic with the ability to maintain high quality standards.
- Ability to interact effectively with all levels within the company and with customers.
- Problem-solving skills demonstrating resourcefulness.
Experience in gunmaking, with a comprehensive understanding of craftsmanship and machining processes.
BTEC Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is advantageous.
