- Produce Purdey shotguns and rifles, ensuring timely delivery, adherence to budget, and compliance with quality standards.
- Assist in the continuous development of products, technology, tooling, and processes to uphold the highest standards of craftsmanship.
- Engage in all craftsmanship and machining processes for both existing and future products.
- Support the Technical department by providing feedback and advice during CAD/CAM development.
- Explore new processes, tooling, and methods to enhance quality and reliability.
- Aid Craft managers in organizing and developing workshop activities.
- Promote continuous improvement in quality, productivity, output, and teamwork.
- Communicate the craft process to visitors and customers positively and courteously.
- Ensure a safe working environment by following procedures, using safety equipment, and reporting any concerns.
- Participate in achieving the highest standards of quality in finished products to reduce rework levels.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement and achievement of the production schedule.
- Assist in acquiring current and new tooling to optimize quality and cost while maintaining the bespoke brand reputation.
- Support the implementation of processes and procedures to achieve company objectives.
- Assist in the cost-effective and timely maintenance of factory equipment and machinery.
- Safeguard information to maintain the intellectual property and product excellence of Purdey products.
- Time-served Gunmaking Apprentice, ideally certified by The London Proof House.
- New craft apprentices with a BTEC Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or a related subject are preferred.
- Strong craft knowledge in a specialist area with a broad understanding of gunmaking.
- Organizational and positive attitude with a commitment to product improvement and development.
- Effective communication, teamwork, and motivation skills.
- Strong work ethic with the ability to achieve required output while maintaining high quality standards.
- Ability to interact effectively with all company levels and customers.
- Problem-solving skills demonstrating resourcefulness.
A background in gunmaking with certification from The London Proof House is preferred. New apprentices with relevant qualifications are also considered.
BTEC Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or a related subject is preferred.
