ETA Polymechanic — EDM (Erosion) Specialist
ETA SA Manufacture Horlogère Suisse is a Swiss watchmaking manufacturer within the Swatch Group. The company specialises in the development and production of Swiss‑made watch heads, movements and components, and supplies operations across the Swatch Business Unit including Swatch and Flik Flak. - Operate and program EDM (electro‑erosion) equipment for the manufacture and repair of injection‑moulding tools and precision components.
- Set up workpieces, electrodes and fixtures; execute wire‑cut and/or die‑sinking erosion processes to tight tolerances.
- Carry out repairs, corrections, cleaning and modifications on existing tools to ensure production readiness.
- Manufacture new spray‑moulding tools or individual tool components following technical drawings and specifications.
- Perform dimensional inspection and quality control using precision measuring instruments; maintain process documentation.
- Collaborate with production, tool design and maintenance teams to optimise tool life, surface finish and cycle times.
- Ensure compliance with safety, housekeeping and Swiss watchmaking quality standards in the workshop.
- Completed vocational training as a polymechanic, precision mechanic, toolmaker or equivalent technical apprenticeship.
- Practical, demonstrable experience with EDM (electro‑erosion) processes and toolroom practice.
- Proficient in reading and working from technical drawings and tolerancing specifications.
- Skill with precision measuring instruments (micrometer, caliper, height gauge) and basic metrology.
- Strong manual dexterity, attention to detail and the ability to work independently in a production environment.
- Availability to work on‑site in Grenchen at 80–100% FTE and flexibility for production priorities.

At least 2 years of hands‑on experience in EDM and toolroom work, preferably within precision industries (watchmaking, medical, micro‑mechanics) or a comparable tooling environment.
Vocational diploma/apprenticeship in polymechanics, precision mechanics, toolmaking or an equivalent technical qualification.
