Donzé Baume Polishing Specialist

- Execute manual and mechanical polishing of watch cases, components and small metal parts to meet defined aesthetic and dimensional tolerances.
- Remove surface imperfections, scratches and tooling marks using appropriate abrasives, compounds and polishing wheels while preserving design lines and edges.
- Inspect finished surfaces under magnification and measure to specified tolerances; document non-conformities and perform corrective finishing.
- Set up, maintain and adjust polishing benches, lathes, wheels and consumables; ensure tools are calibrated and contamination controls are followed.
- Collaborate with production planners and quality control to meet delivery schedules and continuous-improvement objectives.
- Recommend polishing processes, compounds and fixturing for new parts; contribute to process documentation and standard operating procedures.
- Vocational diploma (apprenticeship) in watchmaking, precision mechanics, metalworking or equivalent practical experience.
- Demonstrable expertise in manual polishing and surface finishing of small precision components.
- Steady hand, exceptional manual dexterity and keen visual acuity; ability to work under microscope or loupe for extended periods.
- Understanding of metallurgical behaviour of steels, brass and precious metals and of appropriate abrasives and compounds.
- Commitment to cleanliness, contamination control and adherence to workshop safety procedures.
- Manual polishing and buffing techniques
- Operation of polishing lathe/bench and polishing wheels
- Use of polishing compounds (rouge, diamond paste, micro-abrasives)
- Microscopic inspection and loupe work
- Use of micrometers, calipers and basic metrology tools
- Ultrasonic cleaning and contamination-control procedures
- Reading technical drawings and surface-finish specifications
Minimum 2 years of hands-on polishing or surface-finishing experience in watchmaking, jewellery or precision mechanics; experience with precious metals and small components is preferred.
Vocational diploma in watchmaking, precision mechanics or metalworking, or equivalent apprenticeship/trade qualification.
