Chanel Intellectual Property & Creative Legal Intern

Chanel is a privately held, globally recognised French maison of luxury goods renowned for haute couture, ready-to-wear, accessories, fragrance and beauty. The brand combines artisanal savoir-faire with rigorous protection of creative assets and operates a centralized corporate legal function that supports design, marketing and global business operations.

1. Support the IP and corporate legal teams in drafting, reviewing and formatting contracts, licensing agreements and NDAs related to creative projects and collaborations.
2. Assist with management of the intellectual property portfolio: trademark and design filings, renewals, opposition monitoring and basic prosecution tasks under counsel supervision.
3. Conduct clearance searches and legal research on trademark, design, copyright and unfair competition matters in French and international jurisdictions.
4. Coordinate with in-house business partners (design, marketing, product development) and external counsel to follow up on open matters, deadlines and procedural requirements.
5. Prepare litigation and dispute-docketing materials, compile evidence, and assist with file organisation for enforcement actions or oppositions.
6. Draft memoranda, presentation slides and status reports summarising legal risks and recommendations for non-legal stakeholders.

1. Currently enrolled in a French or international law programme (Master 1/2, LLM or equivalent) with option or coursework in intellectual property law.
2. Demonstrable interest in fashion/luxury IP, creative rights and brand protection.
3. Excellent legal research and drafting skills, with meticulous attention to detail and strong analytical ability.
4. Ability to work confidentially, manage competing deadlines and liaise professionally with internal teams and external advisers.
5. Fluent written and spoken French and strong professional English (legal drafting and correspondence level) are highly desirable.

Law degree in progress (Master 1/2, LLM or equivalent) with coursework or specialization in intellectual property preferred.
