Blancpain Prototypist
Blancpain is a Swiss haute horlogerie manufacture renowned for artisanal watchmaking, technical excellence and heritage. - Design, fabricate and refine physical prototypes of watch cases and bracelets from concept drawings and 3D models.
- Translate design intent into manufacturable samples using manual micromechanics, CNC machining, additive manufacturing and finishing techniques.
- Collaborate closely with Design, Methods & Industrialisation and production teams to ensure prototypes meet functional, aesthetic and assembly requirements.
- Perform dimensional control and metrology inspections; document deviations and implement corrective iterations.
- Prepare technical documentation, process files and prototype dossiers to support industrialisation and transfer to series production.
- Recommend materials, surface treatments and production process adjustments to optimise quality and manufacturability.
- Maintain workshop equipment, ensure compliance with health & safety and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Technical vocational diploma (CFC) or equivalent in precision mechanics, watchmaking, mechanical engineering or toolmaking.
- Several years of practical experience in prototyping, precision component manufacture or watch case/bracelet production.
- Strong manual dexterity and experience with micromechanical finishing and surface treatment processes.
- Proven ability to read and interpret technical drawings and 3D CAD models.
- Manual micromechanics and hand-finishing (polishing, deburring, surface texturing)
- CNC machining and toolroom techniques
- CAD/CAM familiarity (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA — advantageous)
- Additive manufacturing / rapid prototyping techniques
- Metrology and use of measuring instruments (calipers, micrometres, dial gauges, CMM)
- Technical documentation and prototype traceability
Several years of hands-on experience in prototyping or precision part manufacture, preferably within the watchmaking or high-precision mechanical components sector. Demonstrated track record of taking concepts through successive iterations to industrial readiness.
Technical vocational diploma in precision mechanics, watchmaking, mechanical engineering, toolmaking, or equivalent.
