Alaïa Materials Development and Industrialization Coordinator

- Assist the Head of Materials Development and Industrialization in sourcing, developing raw materials and colors, and industrializing materials for Footwear and Leather Goods.
- Act as the primary liaison with suppliers and internal teams, from design to production.
- Conduct material research based on briefs to provide quick and industrial solutions that align with stylistic desires.
- Formalize material research briefs based on requests from the studio, merchandising, and artistic direction.
- Actively engage in sourcing and expand the supplier network to ensure continuous monitoring of market innovations.
- Organize material presentations, including logistics, preparation, animation, and selection follow-up.
- Maintain and update a material archive accessible to the Studio.
- Aid in constructing the color palette and monitor color developments.
- Manage material supply for prototype/sample development, ensuring adherence to timelines and requirements.
- Create and reference materials in the ERP system.
- Organize orders, track, and communicate delivery timelines with suppliers.
- Alert on risky deliveries and propose solutions.
- Ensure material viability on finished products and oversee production implementation.
- Analyze and anticipate risks from sourcing to production commencement.
- Establish material-specific specifications.
- Control, validate, and monitor production masters.
- Prepare handover to the purchasing production team.
- Request, track, and verify technical sheets.
- Input information into tables or PLM.
- Alert in advance when timelines are critical.
- Monitor production implementation in collaboration with the Accessories production team.
- Coordinate activities considering the overall project schedule and business needs.
- Be the primary contact for various departments regarding materials and colors for Accessories.
- Develop supplier capabilities and seek new suppliers as part of the purchasing strategy.
- Anticipate future needs and propose process and tool improvements.
- Manage projects by implementing a process for tracking leftovers.
- Bachelor's degree +5 in Leather, Chemistry, Materials, or Engineering with significant experience of at least 2/3 years in similar roles, ideally in the luxury sector.
- Fluent in English and Italian.
- Strong project management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, InDesign, and PLM.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Product sensitivity.
A minimum of 2 to 3 years of significant experience in similar roles, ideally within the luxury sector.
Bachelor's degree +5 in Leather, Chemistry, Materials, or Engineering.
