- Craft Purdey shotguns and rifles to meet all orders on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Assist in the development of products, technology, tooling, and processes to maintain and enhance craftsmanship and quality.
- Engage in all craftsmanship and machining processes involved in the production of Purdey's firearms.
- Provide assistance, feedback, and advice during CAD/CAM development in the Technical department.
- Explore new processes, tooling, and methods to improve quality and reliability in craftsmanship.
- Support Craft managers in organizing and developing workshop activities.
- Strive for continuous improvement in quality, productivity, output, and teamwork.
- Explain the craft process to visitors and customers positively and courteously.
- Ensure a safe working environment by following procedures and using safety equipment.
- Participate in achieving the highest standards of quality in finished guns and rifles, aiming to reduce rework levels.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement and achievement of the production schedule to deliver firearms on time.
- Assist in acquiring current and new tooling to optimize quality and cost while maintaining the brand's bespoke reputation.
- Support the implementation of processes and procedures to achieve company objectives.
- Assist with the cost-effective and timely maintenance of factory equipment and machinery.
- Develop and safeguard information to maintain the intellectual property and product excellence of Purdey products.
- Time-served Gunmaking Apprentice, ideally certified by The London Proof House.
- New craft apprentices with a BTEC Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or a related subject are considered favorably.
- Sound craft knowledge in a specialist area with a broad understanding of gunmaking.
- Organized and positive with a commitment to improving and developing Purdey products.
- Good communication, teamwork, and motivation skills.
- Strong work ethic, able to achieve required output while maintaining high quality standards.
- Effective interaction with all company levels and customers.
- Capable problem solver demonstrating resourcefulness.
Experience as a gunmaking apprentice, ideally with certification from The London Proof House, or equivalent experience in mechanical engineering and gunmaking.
BTEC Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or a related subject is preferred.
