Alterations Tailor

Founded in 1961, Yves Saint Laurent was the first couture house to introduce the concept of luxury prêt-à-porter in a 1966 collection called ‘Rive Gauche’, synonymous with youth and freedom. This shift represented a first critical step in the modernization of fashion and revolutionized the socio-cultural landscape. In 1999, the luxury goods division of the Kering Group acquired Yves Saint Laurent and, under the creative direction of Anthony Vaccarello since April 2016, continues to position the house at the summit of the luxury universe. Today, Saint Laurent collections include women’s and men’s ready-to-wear, shoes, handbags, small leather goods, jewelry, scarves, ties, and eyewear.

1. Produce high-quality tailored merchandise within established timeframe standards.
2. Provide the highest level of client service and maintain customer relationships.
3. Tailor client experience for both womenswear and menswear.
4. Demonstrate expertise in alterations and support VIP tailoring.
5. Use expertise in garment fittings, construction, and fabric knowledge.
6. Deliver product advice, lead times, and cost estimates.
7. Draw and cut patterns according to specifications.
8. Alter clothing to fit individual needs.
9. Examine and repair garments following alteration tags.
10. Perform fittings and deliver quality workmanship according to Saint Laurent guidelines.
11. Organize workload and complete items on time.

1. Luxury retail experience required

1. Proficiency in operating all tailor shop equipment
2. Ability to understand alteration tags and marks on garments

A reasonable estimate of the base compensation range for this position is $30/hr. - $35/hr.
