- Coordinate and manage fabric sourcing, ensuring quality, compliance, and adherence to development timelines.
- Collaborate closely with creative and development teams to meet specific collection requirements.
- Oversee supplier relationships and ensure efficient inventory management.
- Schedule and conduct seasonal mill appointments, maintaining a comprehensive vendor calendar.
- Review and select collections from mills each season, including trade show participation as needed.
- Maintain an active database of mills, resources, vendors, and agents.
- Provide detailed quality information including pricing, lead times, and material specifications.
- Develop sourcing proposals for material needs.
- Manage lab dips and ensure timely delivery of color samples.
- Assist in research and development of custom fabrications, techniques, and finishes.
- Update and organize mill archives and seasonal records.
- Manage sampling orders, quality references, and lab submissions.
- Ensure timely sampling deliveries and communicate any delays to relevant teams.
- Conduct quality control of material arrivals and resolve any issues with mills.
- Maintain updated fabric information on design boards and reference racks.
- Provide extended fabric quality information for merchandising.
- Communicate seasonal fabric information to international counterparts.
- Track and manage seasonal budget spending.
- Maintain inventory of fabric rolls and atelier supplies.
- Proven experience of 5-6 years in fabric or material management within the fashion industry, preferably haute couture.
- In-depth knowledge of textile materials, manufacturing techniques, and quality standards.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
- Proficiency in collaborating with creative and technical teams.
