- Stay informed about current trade regulations, customs laws, and import/export requirements in the United States and Canada.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Manage and maintain precise records of all import and export transactions.
- Prepare and review shipping documents, including commercial invoices, packing lists, and certificates of origin.
- Interface with government agencies such as the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).
- Facilitate communication and compliance with agencies involved in trade, including the FDA and EPA.
- Conduct risk assessments related to trade compliance and develop mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement corrective actions and enhance compliance procedures.
- Conduct periodic internal audits to ensure adherence to trade compliance policies.
- Provide training and guidance to employees on trade compliance matters.
- Analyze data to draw strategic conclusions for corrective action.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, International Relations, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years in trade compliance, with a focus on the US and Canada.
- Customs Broker’s License required.
- In-depth knowledge of US and Canadian import/export regulations.
- Strong understanding of customs procedures and documentation requirements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Familiarity with trade management software and systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in trade compliance, particularly in the context of US and Canadian regulations, is required.
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, International Relations, or a related field.
