Chanel Sustainability Project Engineer Intern — Perfumes & Beauty

- Support lifecycle assessments (LCA) and environmental impact studies for perfume and beauty product portfolios.
- Collect, validate and analyse environmental and material data from internal R&D teams and external suppliers.
- Contribute to eco‑design and packaging optimisation projects, applying sustainability criteria to design and material choices.
- Prepare technical reports, data visualisations and presentations for cross‑functional stakeholders (R&D, Sourcing, Regulatory, Packaging).
- Coordinate supplier questionnaires and audits concerning environmental performance and compliance.
- Track regulatory and voluntary sustainability standards relevant to cosmetics and fragrance (packaging, ingredients, waste, emissions).
- Assist in the development of KPIs and dashboards to monitor product environmental performance and reduction targets.
- Current enrolment in an engineering or master’s programme in environmental engineering, chemical engineering, materials science, sustainable development or equivalent.
- Strong analytical aptitude with experience in quantitative environmental assessment methods.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to synthesise technical data into clear reports for multi‑disciplinary teams.
- Autonomy, organisation and ability to manage multiple workstreams under supervision.
- Interest in cosmetics, fragrance or consumer goods and familiarity with industry sustainability issues.
- Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology
- SimaPro or GaBi (experience preferred)
- Ecoinvent database (familiarity preferred)
- Microsoft Excel (advanced)
- Microsoft PowerPoint
- GHG footprint / carbon accounting concepts
Previous internship or project experience in sustainability, environmental assessment, eco‑design or within the cosmetics/consumer goods sector is preferred but not mandatory. Experience handling supplier data and cross‑functional coordination is advantageous.
Enrolled in an engineering school or a university Master’s programme in environmental engineering, chemical engineering, materials science, sustainable development, or equivalent.
