Saint Laurent in Scandicci, Italy seeks a Leather Goods Repair Technician to restore and finish luxury handbags and small leather goods.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Perform repair and restoration of leather goods (handbags and small leather accessories) ensuring finishes meet Saint Laurent quality standards
  • Manufacture and prepare components required for repairs according to technical instructions and production drawings
  • Execute skiving, splitting, edge finishing and assembly operations with precision and within prescribed timeframes
  • Coordinate closely with internal workshop colleagues to ensure accurate information flow and continuity of repair processes
  • Document work performed and report any technical or material anomalies to supervisors to preserve product integrity

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years' hands-on experience in bag preparation and repair phases (skiving, splitting, edge and component preparation) within luxury handbag prototyping or atelier environments
  • Proven ability to read and interpret patterns (cartamodelli) and technical components
  • Thorough knowledge of leather types, tanning characteristics and leatherworking techniques
  • Exceptional manual dexterity, attention to detail and finishing skills
  • Reliable, precise and able to work collaboratively within a workshop team

Experience

At least 10 years of progressive, practical experience in luxury handbag preparation and repair within a prototyping or artisan atelier setting.
