Role & Responsibilities

  • Perform systematic authentication of pre-owned watches, verifying serial numbers, casebacks, hallmarks and brand-specific identifiers.
  • Conduct technical testing including timing analysis on a timegrapher, water-resistance/pressure testing, and visual inspection with loupe/microscope.
  • Document and maintain detailed QC records and authentication reports for each item; flag discrepancies and escalate suspected counterfeit or non-conforming pieces.
  • Coordinate with servicing, refurbishment and inventory teams to ensure authenticated items are processed correctly and returned to stock with accurate condition notes.
  • Maintain and update internal reference materials and provenance databases; contribute to continuous-improvement of authentication procedures and checklists.
  • Manage testing equipment calibration and basic maintenance; liaise with external service providers for specialised repairs or advanced diagnostics when required.

Qualifications

  • Formal watchmaking qualification preferred (e.g., WOSTEP, equivalent diploma) or demonstrable technical horology training.
  • Proven familiarity with hallmarks, serial systems and authentication cues across major luxury watch brands.
  • Strong attention to detail and an analytical approach to visual and mechanical diagnostics.
