The Jewelry Buyer drives commercial success, profitability, and growth for Betteridge’s jewelry business in Greenwich, developing and executing merchandising and category strategies informed by customer demand, sales objectives, inventory productivity, and competitive analysis. The role works with internal and external partners to support the company’s luxury jewelry growth strategy. This is a permanent, full-time position.
Role & Responsibilities
- Drive the commercial success, profitability, and growth of Betteridge’s jewelry business in Greenwich.
- Develop and execute merchandising strategies aligned with customer demand, sales objectives, and inventory productivity goals.
- Develop category-specific strategies and communicate them to the wider team, supporting range development, selection, and review.
- Use competitive analysis to inform range decisions.
- Work with internal and external partners to deliver results and support the company’s luxury jewelry growth strategy.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 3–5 years of buying experience at Junior Buyer level or above within luxury goods, jewelry, or related categories.
- Experience managing the full buying cycle from assortment planning through execution.
- Demonstrated success managing vendor relationships and negotiating commercial agreements.
- Strong understanding of retail merchandising, assortment planning, inventory management, and key retail KPIs.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and retail merchandising systems such as SAP or similar ERP.
- Deep knowledge of fine jewelry preferred.
- Strong commercial acumen, including the ability to analyze performance, identify opportunities, and drive profitable growth.
- Excellent communication, presentation, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong product instinct and a passion for fine jewelry, trends, and innovation.
- Ability to prioritize competing demands and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong negotiation, influencing, and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally, including occasional evenings and weekends.
