The Distribution Center Quality Control Specialist evaluates and certifies gemstone quality, authenticity, and value, and inspects product workmanship from brand partners and showrooms. The role also supports repairs and valuations, inventory reconciliation, and other Distribution Center functions. Permanent, full-time position.
Role & Responsibilities
- Distinguish natural gemstones from synthetic or lab-grown stones.
- Inspect jewelry using tools such as microscopes and polariscopes; identify, test, and authenticate the color, clarity, cut, and carat weight of diamonds and precious stones.
- Recommend the appropriate repair or replacement action for damaged products.
- Provide insurance valuations and write reports documenting gemstone characteristics and value.
- Stay current with market trends, new gemstones, and changes to grading standards.
- Communicate and collaborate with clients, designers, retailers, and manufacturers.
- Perform inventory reconciliations across all Distribution Center locations.
- Learn all Distribution Center functions and assist flexibly across its areas.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- GIA Graduate Gemologist (GG) qualification or an equivalent bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Experience in the jewelry field.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and time-management skills.
- Luxury jewelry and watch product knowledge preferred.
- Distribution Center experience preferred.
- SAP knowledge preferred.
