Van Cleef & Arpels in Paris seeks a Quality Controller to oversee inspection and quality assurance for haute joaillerie production.
Role & Responsibilities
- Conduct incoming, in‑process and final inspections to verify conformity with technical drawings, specifications and finishing standards specific to high jewellery and watch components.
- Execute dimensional and visual checks using precision metrology equipment (calipers, micrometers, CMM) and record results in quality documentation and systems.
- Detect, document and classify non‑conformities; initiate containment, corrective actions and follow through until closure, applying root‑cause analysis and 8D methodology where appropriate.
- Collaborate with production ateliers, stone‑setting and finishing teams to translate quality findings into actionable process improvements and preventive measures.
- Manage calibration and maintenance schedules for inspection equipment; ensure traceability of measuring instruments and compliance with metrology protocols.
- Support supplier quality activities including incoming supplier audits, sampling plans and approval of incoming batches to secure material and component quality.
- Contribute to internal audits and continuous improvement initiatives aligned with the Maison's quality management system and luxury product standards.
Qualifications
- Proven competency in precision inspection techniques and metrology for fine jewellery or watch components.
- Solid knowledge of quality methodologies such as root‑cause analysis and structured problem solving (e.g., 8D).
- Familiarity with quality management systems and documentation practices; experience maintaining inspection records and non‑conformance reports.
- Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity and aesthetic sensitivity required for haute joaillerie inspection.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to liaise with artisans, workshop leads and external suppliers.

Experience
Typically 2–5 years of hands‑on quality control experience in luxury jewellery, watchmaking, precision metalwork or a comparable artisanal manufacturing environment, including exposure to supplier quality and in‑process inspection.
Education
Diploma or degree in engineering, materials science, metrology, industrial quality or equivalent vocational qualification; specific metrology or quality certifications are advantageous.
