Van Cleef & Arpels in Lyon seeks a Jewellery Intern (Stagiaire Joaillerie) to support the atelier with bench work, stone setting and finishing.
Role & Responsibilities
- Support atelier bench jewellers in routine production tasks, including filing, sanding, polishing and finishing of jewellery components
- Assist with basic stone setting, assembly and soldering under direct supervision, ensuring adherence to haute-joaillerie quality standards
- Prepare and organise materials and tools for production runs, maintain workstation cleanliness and follow workshop safety protocols
- Perform quality checks on components and finished pieces, document defects and participate in corrective actions with senior technicians
- Contribute to prototyping and small-scale restorations, taking precise measurements and recording technical notes for supervisors
- Participate in technical briefings and training sessions to develop jewellery-making techniques and knowledge of gemstones and precious metals
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a vocational programme in jewellery making, goldsmithing, metalsmithing or equivalent
- Strong manual dexterity with demonstrable fine-motor skills and eye for microscopic detail
- Basic theoretical understanding of gemstones, precious metals and common jewellery techniques
- Professional attitude, punctuality and ability to follow precise technical instructions in a workshop setting
- Willingness to learn from master craftsmen and participate in repetitive tasks while maintaining high-quality standards
Skills
Experience
No extensive professional experience required; internships or short placements in a jewellery bench, restoration studio or vocational workshop are advantageous. Demonstrated hands-on practice through school projects or apprenticeships is preferred.
Education
Vocational diploma or current enrolment in jewellery-making, goldsmithing, metalsmithing or equivalent technical programme (CAP/BTS-level or equivalent).
