Role & Responsibilities

  • Perform visual and instrumental inspection of incoming and in-process gemstones to verify color, clarity, cut, carat weight and conformity with technical specifications.
  • Measure and record gemstone dimensions and weights using precision instruments; ensure traceability and accurate labelling of lots.
  • Grade and sort stones according to maison criteria, preparing selections for the setting ateliers and for procurement review.
  • Document non-conformities, produce QC reports and maintain quality records in the internal traceability system.
  • Collaborate with gemmology, procurement and production teams to resolve quality issues and to validate supplier deliveries.
  • Maintain and calibrate inspection equipment; uphold atelier hygiene and storage protocols for precious stones.
  • Participate in the pépinière (training) programme, receiving and applying technical coaching to develop gemmological judgement.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in an alternance/apprenticeship programme in gemmology, jewelry-making, materials science or a related vocational pathway.
  • Strong visual acuity and manual dexterity; capacity to work with small, high-value items under magnification.
  • Knowledge of basic gemmological criteria (color, clarity, cut, carat) and stone identification principles.
  • Familiarity with precision measurement and weighing procedures; rigorous approach to documentation and traceability.
  • Professional attitude, discretion and respect for confidentiality when handling high-value gems.
  • Willingness to learn in a hands-on atelier environment and to follow strict quality and safety standards.
