Van Cleef & Arpels — Lyon: Foundry Intern (Stagiaire Fonderie) to support haute‑joaillerie casting, finishing and workshop operations.
Role & Responsibilities
- Assist master casters and bench technicians in all stages of high‑jewellery casting, from preparation of wax patterns to mold investment and casting operations.
- Prepare and finish castings: remove investment, cut sprues, clean, file, solder and perform preliminary polishing under supervision to meet haute joaillerie tolerances.
- Support alloy melting, metal pouring and post‑cast heat treatments while strictly following metallurgical and safety procedures.
- Perform quality checks and dimensional control using micrometers, calipers and visual inspection to detect porosity, inclusions or surface defects.
- Maintain workshop cleanliness, organise materials and tools, and assist with routine maintenance of furnaces, kilns and centrifugal/vacuum casting equipment.
- Document production steps, non‑conformities and assist in the preparation of technical samples for review by senior artisans and production managers.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently completed a vocational or post‑secondary programme related to jewellery making, metallurgy, materials science or metalwork (e.g., CAP/BEP, BTS, DN MADE, technical diploma).
- Demonstrable manual dexterity and fine motor control suitable for bench work and micro‑manipulation.
- Basic understanding of metalworking and alloy behaviour, with familiarity with casting terminology and processes.
- Strong attention to detail, visual acuity and a commitment to maintain the high quality standards of haute joaillerie.
- Ability to follow technical instructions, adhere to safety protocols and work collaboratively in a small workshop environment.

Previous hands‑on experience in a jewellery atelier, metalworking shop or vocational training environment is advantageous but not mandatory; the role is structured for learning under the supervision of experienced casters.
Education
