Van Cleef & Arpels — Paris: Assistant Methods Engineer (Intern) to support production process improvement in haute joaillerie.
Role & Responsibilities
- Support the methods engineering team in analyzing and documenting production processes across ateliers and workstations.
- Perform time-and-motion studies and process mapping to identify bottlenecks and opportunities for productivity gains.
- Draft and maintain standardized work instructions, process flow charts and technical documentation for manufacturing and assembly operations.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives (5S, lean principles), propose pragmatic process changes and assist with their implementation.
- Collaborate with production, quality and design teams to ensure manufacturability, ergonomics and adherence to craftsmanship standards.
- Assist in tooling, layout and workstation optimisation projects and in defining required resources and cycle times.
- Collect, monitor and report operational KPIs; support root-cause analysis and corrective action tracking.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an engineering or technical degree (Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Materials or equivalent).
- Strong analytical aptitude with experience in process mapping, time studies or production simulations from coursework or projects.
- Proficiency in Excel and ability to manipulate data for time studies and KPI reporting.
- Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, 5S) and basic quality tools (root cause analysis, FMEA).
- High attention to detail, methodical documentation skills and respect for artisanal quality standards.
- Effective collaborator with clear written and verbal communication skills.

Experience
No prior professional experience is strictly required; previous internships, industrial placements or academic projects in manufacturing, process improvement or methods engineering are an advantage.
Education
Enrolled in an engineering or technical programme (Bachelor's or Master's level) in Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Materials engineering or equivalent.
