It seeks talent energized by bold ideas, consumer connection, and the enduring appeal of iconic style.

Tommy Hilfiger is hiring a Senior Outerwear Designer for Tommy Jeans Mens in Amsterdam to lead the category’s full seasonal design lifecycle, from research and concept through fittings and final product execution. The role owns creative and technical delivery, fabric and product innovation, commercial assortment relevance and cross-functional collaboration, while coaching junior designers. Full-time role.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end design and development of the Tommy Jeans Mens Outerwear category across all seasons, spanning heavyweight and insulated outerwear, mid-layer, lightweight, transitional and hybrid products.
  • Translate seasonal creative direction into a distinctive, commercially relevant Outerwear proposition informed by brand identity, consumer needs, innovation and market opportunity.
  • Research cultural, consumer, runway, heritage, market and technical developments and convert relevant insights into brand-right product concepts.
  • Develop silhouettes, proportions, fabrics, constructions, trims, details, finishes and garment solutions aligned with Tommy Jeans product DNA.
  • Build category architecture with Merchandising, balancing commercial core, proven franchises, seasonal newness and directional product; assess the range for balance, gaps, duplication and opportunities, and propose solutions.
  • Design within seasonal product and marketing stories, integrating Outerwear into the wider Tommy Jeans Mens assortment and collection narrative.
  • Conduct competitor and market analysis, identifying opportunities in product, innovation, fit, functionality, fabrication and price positioning.
  • Apply advanced Outerwear knowledge across construction, fabrication, fit, proportion and functionality; research shells, linings, insulation, trims, washes, coatings, finishes and functional components.
  • Develop fabric strategies aligned with the wider collection, considering aesthetics, handfeel, weight, durability, functionality, sustainability, cost and scalability, and coordinate materials across categories where relevant.
  • Integrate meaningful technical innovation in materials, construction, performance and product features; balance functionality and complexity with brand aesthetic, consumer needs, commercial targets and price positioning.
  • Create CAD drawings, technical sketches, colourways and design presentations using Illustrator, Photoshop and other relevant design tools; maintain garment worksheets, design specifications and PLM updates.
  • Communicate design intent and construction, fabrication, trim and colour requirements accurately to Product Development, Technical Design and vendors; maintain detailed documentation and product handovers.
  • Use AI and emerging digital visualization tools for ideation, visualization, colour and product exploration, presentations and cross-functional communication, and assess opportunities to improve creative-process speed, clarity and quality while protecting design judgement and product integrity.
  • Own design intent from concept through prototypes, fittings, salesman samples and final execution; lead fittings with Technical Design and Product Development and review samples against design intent, consumer proposition, functionality, quality and commercial objectives.
  • Give actionable feedback to cross-functional teams and vendors, follow issues through to resolution, adapt designs to technical, costing, sourcing or manufacturing constraints while protecting design intent, and ensure final products meet Tommy Jeans quality and design standards.
  • Manage Outerwear design stages within the seasonal calendar; prepare and present the category at collection mapping, design and prototype reviews, assortment discussions and other milestones.
  • Track category status, priorities, dependencies and outstanding decisions; identify risks, communicate potential delays, adjust plans and deliver responsibilities accurately and on time.
  • Translate Tommy Jeans consumer needs and behaviours into product opportunities; work with Merchandising on historical performance, regional needs, pricing architecture, commercial priorities and growth opportunities.
  • Use business, consumer and market insights to inform category decisions and range architecture; account for target pricing, margin, development complexity and scalability, and identify ways to strengthen category relevance and commercial performance.
  • Collaborate with Product Development, Technical Design, Merchandising and Sourcing throughout the product lifecycle; build vendor relationships and apply vendor expertise to material and product solutions.
  • Lead relevant fabric alignment across categories and partner with Tommy Jeans Womens on cross-gender opportunities, coordinating seasonal concepts, silhouettes, fabrication, colour and aesthetic while preserving relevance for each consumer.
  • Align with the Shirts Designer on transitional Outerwear and overshirt boundaries to create a complementary category offer; participate in vendor meetings, development handovers, sourcing discussions and product reviews.
  • Travel to vendors and sourcing locations when required for development, handovers, fabric sourcing and product reviews; attend fabric fairs, market visits and industry events to track material innovation, technical developments and future opportunities.
  • Lead seasonal Outerwear storytelling, styling direction and integration across the Tommy Jeans Mens collection; connect Outerwear with Shirts, Pants and other categories to create complete looks and coherent seasonal stories.
  • Contribute to wider collection discussions on styling, silhouette, proportion, colour and collection building; present product and design thinking clearly to cross-functional partners and senior stakeholders, explaining each product's purpose, consumer need and role in the assortment.
  • Share consumer, competitor, market, technical and trend insights with the Design team; operate with senior-level independence, accountability and initiative, partnering with the Lead Designer, Design Director and VP Design on creative and strategic decisions.
  • Identify opportunities, risks and decisions requiring broader alignment; present recommendations confidently to senior stakeholders and challenge constructively where appropriate; demonstrate leadership through communication, professionalism, reliability, product expertise and collaboration.
  • Support the day-to-day development of Design Assistants and junior colleagues through clear delegation, context, coaching, product knowledge and constructive feedback; develop their skills in CAD, research, garment construction, fabric knowledge, organization and seasonal processes.
  • Review junior colleagues' work, encourage greater independence and confidence, and share Outerwear expertise, tools and best practices with the wider Design team.
  • Deliver a compelling, brand-right and consumer-relevant Outerwear collection with strong design, fit, construction, material selection and execution; build a balanced assortment and translate technical and material innovation into commercially viable products.
  • Connect creative decisions to consumer needs, business performance and market opportunities; deliver against seasonal milestones with minimal avoidable redevelopment and maintain design intent through final samples despite technical, commercial and sourcing constraints.
  • Build effective cross-functional partnerships and support clear, efficient decision-making; evolve the category through product, fabrication, functionality, construction, proportion and design.
  • Demonstrate sound independent judgment, accountability and proactive problem-solving, knowing when broader alignment or escalation is needed; develop junior talent through delegation, coaching, feedback and knowledge sharing.
