Tissot seeks a Boutique Watch Technician in Melbourne (Collins St) to service and repair Swiss watches at its Collins Street boutique.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, service and repair mechanical and quartz wristwatches to Tissot technical standards within a boutique environment.
  • Perform maintenance tasks including movement overhaul, timing regulation, battery replacement, gasket replacement and water-resistance testing.
  • Execute case and bracelet refurbishment (polishing, brushing, adjustments) and report when atelier-level repairs are required.
  • Operate and maintain workshop equipment (timing machines, pressure testers, ultrasonic cleaners) and ensure instruments are calibrated.
  • Document all service work accurately in the brand’s service logs and warranty records; manage job tickets and repair estimates.
  • Liaise directly with retail sales staff and clients to explain repair scope, timeframes and costs, ensuring exceptional client-facing service.
  • Manage spare parts inventory, order replacement components through authorised channels and maintain parts traceability.
  • Adhere to brand quality control procedures, safety and ESD best practices, and escalate complex technical issues to the regional atelier as needed.

Qualifications

  • Formal watchmaking qualification (e.g., WOSTEP, national watchmaking diploma or equivalent) or certified apprenticeship in horology.
  • Minimum 2 years of post-qualification experience servicing Swiss watches in a boutique or authorised service environment.
  • Proven ability to service both mechanical and quartz movements with meticulous attention to fine mechanical tolerances.
  • Strong manual dexterity, visual acuity and experience using timing machines and pressure-testing equipment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to retail colleagues and clients.
