Tiffany & Co. hiring Silversmith Apprentice in Cumberland, RI—master soldering, forging, and fabrication techniques in luxury jewelry manufacturing.
Role & Responsibilities
- Work safely by consistently following safe work procedures and reporting all incidents and safety issues to supervisors
- Interpret blueprints and fabricate items based on designs and tolerances to meet company QA standards within prescribed timelines
- Perform soldering operations using multiple torch sizes, applying correct sequences of silver solder at various temperatures (800–560°C) and lower-temperature tin/silver solder
- Execute solder cleanup, filing, bur removal, sanding, and scotch stone work to prevent over-run and ensure quality finishes
- Clean and fit cast, die-struck, machined, spun, and hand-fabricated components
- Hand-form spouts, handles, and hollow components using hydraulic press, wooden dies, hammers, and stakes
- Perform hand-hallmarking operations and utilize aluminum and steel hammers for raising and planishing during fabrication and repair
- Minimize porosity in solder seams and castings using laser welder and appropriate filler wire, rotary planisher, and planishing hammers
- Demonstrate knowledge of hand forging steel punches, chasing tools, snaring irons, and stakes
- Operate drill press and flex shaft for drilling, tapping, and threading components
- Set up and operate power equipment including draw bench, jump shears, band saw, disc and belt sander, power press, kick press, spinning lathe, and machining lathe
- Organize work instructions, drawings, notes, and capture in-process images; assist in writing SOPs for new and existing products
- Provide management with consistent progress updates and estimated completion schedules
- Maintain production schedules and assist with additional projects as skill sets progress
- Maintain a professional, positive, and respectful work environment while complying with company policies
- Demonstrate competencies in hollowware for tours and filming as needed
- Perform other activities as directed by management

- BFA or MFA in metals and jewelry
Skills
Experience
Minimum 5 years of metalworking or jewelry fabrication experience; demonstrated proficiency in hand soldering, forging, and use of specialized metalworking machinery.
Education
High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) or Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in metals and jewelry preferred.
Workplace
The successful candidate will be located in Cumberland, Rhode Island, United States, with easy access to Providence.
