Manufacturing Engineer / Programmer at Tiffany & Co., Cumberland. Lead precision CNC programming and process optimization for luxury jewelry manufacturing.
Role & Responsibilities
- Establish efficient manufacturing sequences and economical methods of production and tooling in collaboration with support groups
- Develop and maintain robust CNC programming with clear operator instructions for multi-axis milling and turning centers
- Support new product introduction (NPI) initiatives through process optimization and documentation
- Update legacy programs and instructions to current manufacturing standards
- Set up, program, and operate 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC milling centers and multi-axis turning centers with live tooling
- Perform complex machine shop work and setup documentation
- Serve as subject matter expert and technical mentor, providing guidance on manufacturability, risk mitigation, and process standardization
- Foster continuous improvement across internal teams and external stakeholders
- Create and optimize machining processes, tooling, and fixturing for new product development
- Support manufacturing with process improvements to programs, tooling, and fixtures
- Train and mentor CNC technical staff
- Research and evaluate new manufacturing processes related to jewelry, machining, automation, and tooling
Qualifications
- 10+ years of CNC machining experience with strong background in machining process design
- Programming, fixturing, tooling, documentation, inspection, and training expertise
- Set-up, programming, and operation experience with 3-, 4-, and 5-axis milling centers
- Set-up, programming, and operation experience with multi-axis turning centers
- CAM programming expertise with Mastercam proficiency preferred
- CAD software experience with SolidWorks preferred
- Experience with Fanuc or Siemens control systems
- Micromachining experience
- Metrology and GD&T expertise
Skills
Experience
Minimum 10 years of hands-on CNC machining experience, encompassing comprehensive process design, programming, tooling development, fixturing design, and documented operator training. Demonstrated expertise in translating complex technical specifications and CAD/CAM data into production-ready, highly efficient manufacturing processes across prototype and full production environments.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent; BSIE (Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering) or BSME (Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering) or equivalent preferred.
