Thélios (LVMH) in Longarone, Italy seeks a CAD Designer specialising in injection molding and MIM for luxury eyewear production.
Role & Responsibilities
- Create detailed 3D and 2D CAD models and drawings for eyewear components, translating creative specifications into manufacturable technical designs.
- Design components optimised for plastic injection molding and Metal Injection Molding (MIM), addressing parting lines, draft angles, undercuts, gating, shrinkage and complex geometries.
- Develop and review technical mold designs to ensure compliance with industrial production requirements and to facilitate efficient toolmaking.
- Integrate CAM considerations into designs; prepare and verify milling toolpaths and machining allowances that impact lead times and surface quality.
- Participate actively in technical design reviews, providing decisive engineering input early in the project lifecycle to resolve manufacturability issues.
- Maintain organised project files, bills of materials (BOM) and rigorous technical documentation for handover to production and suppliers.
- Ensure all designs meet luxury industry standards and applicable technical and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a technical diploma in Mechanical/Industrial Design (or equivalent technical qualification).
- Minimum three years of proven experience as a CAD designer, preferably in the eyewear sector or other high‑precision industries.
- Proven experience in designing for injection molding and Metal Injection Molding (MIM), including mold design considerations.
- Strong command of technical drawing principles, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and tolerance analysis.
- Proficiency in parametric CAD systems (Catia or PTC Creo) and practical familiarity with CAM for tool and mold manufacture.

Experience
Minimum 3 years of hands‑on CAD design experience, ideally within eyewear manufacturing or other high‑precision product industries, with demonstrable work on injection molding, mold design and MIM processes.
Education
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or technical diploma in Mechanical/Industrial Design, or equivalent technical qualification.
Workplace
The successful candidate will be located in Longarone, Veneto, Italy, with easy access to Venice.
