About The RealReal

The RealReal is a US luxury consignment marketplace founded in 2011. It sells pre-owned fashion, jewelry, watches, art and home furnishings through its website and stores. Its teams authenticate, price and photograph goods before they go on sale.

The RealReal seeks a Senior Facilities Manager to lead day-to-day facilities operations at its Phoenix Authentication Center and support an assigned portfolio of remote retail locations, with approximately 20% travel. The role oversees building reliability, maintenance, vendors, budgets, safety, projects and employee experience; the expected annual salary range is $120,000–$130,000, with starting pay based on location, skills, experience, market demands and internal parity.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day facilities operations at the Phoenix Authentication Center, maintaining a safe, clean, reliable, operationally ready site in line with company standards.
  • Lead facilities support staff and manage third-party janitorial, porter, maintenance and specialist service providers, setting expectations and holding partners accountable for service quality and performance.
  • Develop and execute preventive maintenance, inspection and repair programmes for critical building systems and equipment, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire and life safety, lighting, dock and warehouse systems, and other infrastructure.
  • Maintain site standards through routine building walks, documented inspections, timely corrective actions and follow-through on outstanding issues.
  • Manage facilities work orders, repairs and service requests from identification to completion, prioritizing business continuity, employee experience, safety and cost.
  • Support an assigned portfolio of remote retail locations, travelling approximately 20% for site visits, repairs, projects, vendor oversight, emergency response and facilities-standard assessments.
  • Identify project and operational risks proactively, escalate concerns early and develop practical solutions before issues disrupt the business.
  • Source, negotiate and manage external vendor partnerships, service agreements and bids; monitor performance, service levels, pricing and compliance with company requirements.
  • Manage facilities budgets, repair and maintenance expenditure, service contracts and project costs; support forecasting and identify opportunities to improve service while controlling costs.
  • Partner with landlords and property managers on building issues, lease obligations, repairs, inspections and corrective actions, driving items to timely resolution.
  • Work cross-functionally with Operations, Retail, Safety, Asset Protection, IT, Real Estate/Construction, Finance, Procurement and People teams to support business priorities and site needs.
  • Support workplace planning, space utilization, moves, furniture and equipment needs, and operational changes at the Phoenix site as required.
  • Ensure facilities practices, vendors and work activities meet applicable health, safety, code and company requirements; coordinate corrective actions when deficiencies are identified.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators, recurring inspections, vendor scorecards and other operating metrics to drive continuous improvement and accountability.
  • Communicate clearly and promptly with leadership and stakeholders about site conditions, project status, risks, outages, emergencies, budgets and planned work.
  • Respond to urgent facilities issues and coordinate after-hours support when required to protect employees, customers, inventory and business operations.
  • Build scalable facilities processes, documentation and standards for consistent use across Phoenix and the assigned retail portfolio.

Qualifications

  • At least 8 years of progressive facilities management experience in a fast-paced, multi-site, distribution, fulfillment, warehouse, retail or similarly complex operating environment.
  • At least 5 years of experience leading facilities teams and/or managing multiple third-party service providers and contractors.
  • Demonstrated ownership of a large operational facility, including building systems, preventive maintenance, repairs, janitorial services, inspections and vendor performance.
  • Strong project management experience overseeing construction, renovations, capital improvements, installations and facility refreshes from scope through closeout.
  • Ability to assess issues independently, make sound decisions, anticipate risks and drive work to completion with limited day-to-day direction.
  • Strong vendor management and negotiation skills, including bid review, scope development, contract and service-level management, and performance accountability.
  • Experience managing operating budgets, repair and maintenance expenditure, project costs and forecasts.
  • Working knowledge of building systems and facilities best practices, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire and life safety, and general building maintenance.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize competing needs across a home-base facility and distributed retail portfolio.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including concise updates, appropriate risk escalation and effective partnership with leaders and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work onsite at the Phoenix Authentication Center and respond to urgent or after-hours facilities needs when business conditions require.
  • Ability to travel approximately 20%.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Construction Management, Engineering, Business or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
