The RealReal is hiring a Luxury Goods Authenticator for its Perth Amboy facility to inspect, authenticate, document, and prepare consigned luxury goods for online listing. The role includes product evaluation, fashion-description writing, and data entry, with an expected hourly rate of $19; the starting rate considers location, skills, experience, market demands, and internal parity.
Role & Responsibilities
- Review and authenticate luxury clothing, handbags, shoes, and accessories using The RealReal’s methodology and adhering to acceptance and condition standards.
- Authenticate luxury products by locating brand identifiers, including holograms, date codes, authenticity cards, and hallmarks, and evaluating material and construction quality.
- Evaluate the quality of product materials and construction.
- Use internal authentication resources to review products accurately.
- Stay informed about current brand trends and developments.
- Record and report product details in The RealReal’s backend system.
- Write informative product descriptions using industry-standard fashion terminology.
- Enter relevant product data, including measurements and fabrication.
Qualifications
- Experience working in the retail or fashion industry.
- Strong fashion knowledge, including leading designers and brands, current trends, fabrics, and garment construction.
- Demonstrated ability to excel in a high-volume, repetitive environment.
- Self-motivation and a drive to achieve results.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Adaptability and openness to change.
- Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to stand for a minimum of 8 hours at a time.

Compensation
The base compensation for this position is USD 19 per hour.
Benefits
Performance-based incentive pay for employees working at least 40 hours per month; $50 in monthly food credits for on-site snacks and meals; Employee Stock Purchase Plan; 401(k) with company match; medical, dental, and vision insurance; paid parental leave; 9 paid company holidays; 18 paid time-off days, accruing from the first day of work; and a state-of-the-art, climate-controlled warehouse facility. A tenure-based pay program provides two automatic increases during the first 12 months, up to $0.75 more per hour.
