The RealReal seeks a Laboratory Technician for its authentication and fine jewelry operations in Secaucus, operating XRF, X-ray and CWED equipment, processing jewelry, and conducting quality-control reviews. The role is full-time and onsite, with an expected hourly rate of $17; starting pay considers work location, skills, experience, market demands and internal parity.
Role & Responsibilities
- Operate XRF equipment to identify precious-metal components and enter readings into the database.
- Operate X-ray equipment to image fashion products and enter readings into the database.
- Work with emerging technologies as they are incorporated into daily processes.
- Create baseline data feedback.
- Scan items to designated locations.
- Review authenticators’ XRF readings for quality control and compliance with SOPs and authentication standards.
- Document and report quality-control findings to maintain accurate records and visibility into quality trends.
- Assess jewelry weights and measurements.
- Clean jewelry using ultrasonic and steam machines and other industry-standard equipment.
- Count diamonds.
- Collaborate as needed with The RealReal Fine Jewelry & Watches authentication department to facilitate the processing of fine and fashion jewelry.
- Operate the CWED (Carat Weight Estimation Device) to calculate the carat weight of diamonds in jewelry and enter readings into the database.
Qualifications
- High school diploma.

- Working knowledge of Google Docs and Gmail.
