About The RealReal

The RealReal is a US luxury consignment marketplace founded in 2011. It sells pre-owned fashion, jewelry, watches, art and home furnishings through its website and stores. Its teams authenticate, price and photograph goods before they go on sale.

The RealReal seeks an on-site Fine Jewelry and Watch Valuation Manager for its Newport Beach retail location to appraise, authenticate, and price fine jewelry and watches, deliver consultative client appointments, and support on-site and remote pricing initiatives. The role owns pricing performance and appointment-to-consignment conversion metrics while partnering with store and cross-functional teams. The expected annual salary range is $82,000–$100,000, with starting pay varying by location, skills, experience, market demands, and internal parity.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Facilitate valuation appointments, working directly with clients to provide a relaxed, consultative experience and educate them on the value of their items in the marketplace.
  • Conduct real-time valuations and authentication of fine jewelry and watches using industry-specific tools.
  • Provide pre-consignment pricing services to consignors and internal sales partners.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of pricing trends and fashion-item sell-through velocity by working with the Pricing and Authentication teams.
  • Own the sell-through performance and velocity of items personally priced.
  • Own appointment-to-consignment conversion metrics, driving client satisfaction and business results.
  • Partner with the Store Manager to understand customer needs and stay current on in-store operations and priorities.
  • Support additional store and team needs to ensure a seamless retail experience.
  • Support occasional supply events with on-site valuations and participate in remote pricing initiatives for cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of fine jewelry in the primary and secondary markets.
  • Two to five years of experience in a customer-facing luxury role.
  • Flexibility to work certain weekend days.
  • Sales experience is strongly encouraged.
  • Proactive, self-directed approach, with the ability to anticipate business needs and meet internal and external deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including identifying potential obstacles in advance and ensuring smooth execution of valuation office processes.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple complex, time-sensitive situations calmly and effectively.
  • Passion for delivering a high-touch luxury client experience.
  • Polished, professional presence and strong presentation skills.
  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • GIA credentials such as Graduate Gemologist (GG), Accredited Jewelry Professional (AJP), or equivalent coursework or experience are strongly preferred.
