The RealReal is hiring an Authenticator for its Secaucus authentication center to inspect, authenticate, document, and describe consigned luxury products using internal methods, XRF, and digital microscopy. The role is full-time and pays $19 per hour, with performance incentives and benefits.
Role & Responsibilities
- Review and authenticate luxury clothing, handbags, shoes, and accessories using TRR methodology and adhering to acceptance and condition standards.
- Locate brand identifiers—including holograms, date codes, authenticity cards, and hallmarks—and assess materials and construction to authenticate luxury products.
- Use X-ray fluorescence (XRF) to assess the authenticity of metal in handbags.
- Capture detailed macro images of handbag exteriors and interiors using a digital microscope.
- Refer to internal authentication resources when reviewing products.
- Stay current on brand trends and developments.
- Record and report product details in the back-end TRR system.
- Write informative product descriptions using industry-standard fashion terminology.
- Enter pertinent product information, including measurements and fabrication, into the inventory system.
Qualifications
- Experience working in the retail or fashion industry.
- Strong fashion knowledge, including leading designers and brands, current trends, fabrics, and garment construction.
- Demonstrated ability to excel in a high-volume, repetitive environment.
- Self-motivation and drive to achieve results.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Adaptability and openness to change.
- Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to stand for a minimum of 8 hours at a time.
- Ability to read and write in English.
- Proficiency with Mac OS and Google Suite.
- Preferred: college degree in fashion studies, merchandising, textile studies, or a related field.

Compensation
The base compensation for this position is USD 19 per hour.
