Tapestry seeks a Store Planning & Construction Project Manager in New York, NY to lead retail fit-outs, budgets and vendor delivery.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Own and manage store planning and construction projects from initiation to close-out, ensuring milestones and deliverables are met.
  • Attend landlord and stakeholder meetings to assess site conditions, fit-out requirements, local codes, building constraints and approval timelines.
  • Develop critical paths and project schedules using Microsoft Project; maintain timeline accuracy and update stakeholders regularly.
  • Forecast, track and control project budgets; drive cost efficiencies and aim to deliver projects under budget where possible.
  • Manage tendering and bidding processes; evaluate contractor/vendor proposals and negotiate commercial terms to meet financial targets.
  • Coordinate millwork and construction material orders and deliveries in collaboration with Production teams; review and approve shop drawings and fit-out documentation.
  • Coordinate with architects and contractors to implement store designs developed in New York; review construction and fixture shop drawings for compliance.
  • Produce weekly status reports summarizing progress, risks, approvals, material orders and next steps for all active projects.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, generate punch lists during construction and at completion, and perform Post Occupancy Evaluations.
  • Execute warranty follow-up and manage post‑installation maintenance and small repair projects in support of Store Operations.
  • Maintain historical construction cost data for the region and participate in ad-hoc projects as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum 4+ years of experience in interior design, retail fit‑out management and store openings; demonstrable retail project experience required.
  • Proven experience managing budgets, commercial negotiations and multi‑vendor engagements.
  • Frequent travel to project sites is required.
  • Strong knowledge of construction documentation, local code considerations and store delivery processes.

Experience
