Tapestry seeks a Stitcher (Leather Handbags) in Dongguan, China — skilled sewing technician with 3+ years' experience producing sample-grade leather handbags.
Role & Responsibilities
- Operate a variety of industrial sewing machines to stitch leather handbag components and assemble finished samples according to technical drawings and patterns.
- Read and interpret paper patterns and technical specifications to execute accurate seam placement, stitch length and construction sequences.
- Independently complete sewing operations for individual parts and final assemblies (loose pieces and combination assemblies) to sample-grade tolerances.
- Collaborate with the workbench and sample-making team to refine prototypes, implement adjustments and ensure on-time sample delivery.
- Maintain consistent quality standards, perform basic machine care and report production or quality issues to the sewing group leader.
Qualifications
- Minimum three years' experience sewing genuine leather handbags or equivalent leather goods.
- Ability to read patterns and technical drawings accurately.
- Proficiency with multiple industrial sewing machines and handbag construction techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to sample-quality workmanship.
- Effective teamworking skills and ability to follow direction from the sewing group leader.
Skills
Experience
At least 3 years of hands-on experience in stitching genuine leather handbags or similar leather goods, with proven ability to produce sample-grade work and follow technical patterns.
Education
Secondary vocational school or technical certificate in garment/leather goods manufacturing preferred; on-the-job vocational training in sewing acceptable.
