Tapestry seeks a Senior Manager, Store Design based in Tokyo to lead retail design and rollouts across Japan and Korea.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute the store design strategy for Japan and Korea, ensuring retail environments align with global brand standards and regional market requirements.
  • Manage local and cross-functional design teams, external architects, consultants and contractors through all project phases from concept, technical documentation, permitting to construction completion.
  • Oversee new store openings, remodels and visual merchandising rollouts; develop and approve construction drawings, FF&E specifications and schedules.
  • Control project budgets and timelines, implement cost-saving measures, and report progress to regional and global stakeholders.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and quality assurance reviews to guarantee workmanship, material integrity and adherence to brand and safety codes.
  • Coordinate with retail operations, procurement, legal and sustainability teams to resolve site issues, expedite approvals and ensure compliant execution.
  • Localise global design directives to meet cultural, regulatory and customer expectations in Japan and Korea while safeguarding brand consistency.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Industrial Design or a related discipline.
  • Proven leadership experience managing multi-disciplinary design teams and external consultants across international retail projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction documentation, FF&E specification, local permitting and building code requirements in Japan and Korea.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multi-million-dollar project budgets, vendor negotiations and complex schedules.
  • Strong communication skills with the capacity to present design solutions to senior stakeholders and to lead cross-functional alignment.
