Kate Spade New York seeks a Senior Director, Visual Merchandising in New York, NY to lead global VM strategy and retail visual execution.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Define and lead the global visual merchandising strategy, ensuring alignment with brand positioning, commercial priorities and long‑term growth objectives.
  • Create and manage monthly Window and In‑Store Global VM Guidelines that are clear, consistent and executable across markets.
  • Partner with Global Merchandising, Marketing and Design to develop dynamic VM direction that elevates brand storytelling and drives commercial impact.
  • Collaborate with Buyers and regional teams to ensure VM direction is locally resonant and operationally feasible.
  • Oversee sample management, showroom builds and seasonal installations to ensure timely availability and visual accuracy for guideline creation and presentations.
  • Develop VM communications and training materials; lead the training and development of field visual leads to strengthen executional capability.
  • Manage visual merchandising for flagship showrooms, corporate events and seasonal activations, maintaining cohesive brand expression across environments.
  • Partner cross‑functionally with Merchandising, VM Production and Store Design on fixtures, props, graphics and product presentation standards.
  • Conduct trend hunting and inspiration research to inform future VM direction and sustain a forward‑looking creative point of view.
  • Analyze store performance, customer behavior and product productivity to inform VM decisions and optimise commercial results.
  • Ensure operational excellence through calendar management, budget oversight and coordination with production partners and vendors.
  • Support digital cohesion by partnering with e‑commerce teams to align physical and online visual expression.
  • Travel to support flagship launches and key seasonal initiatives; lead, coach and develop the VM team to foster creativity and accountability.

Qualifications

  • Proven senior leadership experience in visual merchandising for a global retail or lifestyle brand.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop clear VM guidelines, training programmes and scalable execution standards.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience using performance data to shape visual strategy and merchandising decisions.
  • Experience managing showroom builds, sample logistics and cross‑functional stakeholder relationships.
  • Track record of building and developing high‑performing VM teams and mentoring regional visual leaders.
  • Ability to travel internationally to support flagship activations and launches.
