Tapestry seeks a Senior Director, Accounting (Controller) in Shanghai to lead Greater China accounting, reporting and controls for Coach and Kate Spade New York.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Provide regional control and accounting leadership for Greater China, owning statutory and consolidated reporting deliverables.
  • Lead the month-end and quarter-end close processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and appropriate consolidation for global reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with local statutory requirements and applicable accounting standards; support IFRS and corporate reporting needs.
  • Design, implement and monitor internal controls and SOX/ICFR processes in partnership with internal audit and external advisors.
  • Manage and develop the Greater China accounting team, including hiring, performance management and succession planning.
  • Coordinate and manage external audits, tax filings and relationships with local regulators and advisors.
  • Drive process improvement and automation initiatives to increase efficiency, visibility and control across accounting operations.
  • Partner with commercial, treasury and global finance functions on budgeting, forecasting, intercompany, and cash management matters.

Qualifications

  • Proven senior accounting leader with deep technical knowledge of financial reporting and accounting controls.
  • Demonstrated experience managing accounting operations for a multinational retail or consumer goods business.
  • Strong record of building and developing cross-functional teams and driving operational improvements.
  • Thorough understanding of statutory reporting, tax filing processes, and audit requirements in Greater China.
  • Professional accounting qualification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, or equivalent) strongly preferred.

Experience

Extensive leadership experience in accounting and finance, typically 10+ years in progressive accounting roles with at least 5 years in a regional or senior leadership position within multinational retail, luxury or consumer brands.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline; advanced degree or professional accounting designation preferred.
