Coach seeks a Product Development Engineer in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam to oversee handbag sampling, pattern development, and quality assurance throughout the product development cycle.
Role & Responsibilities
- Works with product development team and service providers to review prototype samples for quality and accuracy, ensuring alignment with Coach's design intent
- Collaborates with the PD team to deliver presentation samples on schedule and to specification
- Resolves technical issues, creates mock-ups, and revises patterns as required to meet design and manufacturing standards
- Reviews final samples in partnership with the product development team and implements their direction as the product's technical authority
- Maintains and updates the development pattern library, preserving all final Master Patterns for consistency and traceability
- Completes and clarifies technical comments for distribution to Vietnam manufacturing facilities, service providers, and the product development team across all development stages
- Maintains, updates, and shares best practices across assigned collections in collaboration with on-site engineers and service providers
- Conducts product testing during the development stage to validate construction and durability
Qualifications
- Extended knowledge of paper pattern techniques
- Handbag manufacturing experience strongly preferred
- Sampling experience and demonstrated familiarity with leather goods construction
- Proficiency in identifying and solving design and construction challenges
- Strong aesthetic sense and understanding of leather goods design and quality
- Fluent English language capability
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-cultural team environment
- Willingness to travel to different cities within the region and other countries as required
Skills
Experience
Demonstrated experience in product engineering, pattern development, and/or manufacturing oversight within luxury leather goods or handbag production. Sampling experience and familiarity with supply chain communication across multiple manufacturing partners are advantageous.
Education
Not specified; technical or vocational training in pattern making, garment/leather goods construction, or a related field is recommended.
