Tapestry seeks an experienced Product Development Developer to support all footwear production development assignments from early prototyping through final sample sign-off. The successful candidate will coordinate across vendors and internal teams—including Raw Material Sourcing and Supply Chain Management—to ensure design specifications are met on schedule and product quality exceeds standards at each development phase.
Role & Responsibilities
- Assist the footwear product development process and interact directly with vendors to facilitate effective transition of designs from prototype into production
- Handle development projects with team leader guidance and support, coordinating all production development assignments from early-stage development through sample sign-off
- Review technical packages with overseas teams and vendors to ensure accuracy and specification compliance
- Coordinate with Raw Material Sourcing, Tooling, and other departments to ensure timely execution aligned with design requirements
- Verify all specifications are accurate and on schedule to support critical project timelines
- Support sample material transfer between vendors and manage trims and secondary upper processes
- Alert Supply Chain Management to long lead-time projects to enable proactive planning
- Facilitate communication regarding products, shipping, and tracking between factory and overseas teams
- Organize and lead corrective action (RA) meetings internally and with supply partners to achieve CRF corrections and clarifications
- Coordinate wear testing and laboratory testing samples to validate product quality at each sampling phase
- Ensure product quality meets Tapestry's highest standards throughout all phases of sampling and development
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience in the footwear industry as a developer or equivalent
- Advanced knowledge of footwear category, product materials, and product development lifecycle
- Proficiency in office software applications: Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Fluent English proficiency in both written and verbal communication
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in technical documentation
- Strong organizational and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively across functional and cultural teams
- Knowledge of fashion footwear trends and industry standards
- Capacity to manage multiple simultaneous tasks under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Results-oriented mindset with process-driven approach and high self-expectations
Skills
Experience
At least 3 years of professional experience in footwear industry development roles, demonstrating advanced knowledge of product categories, materials, and the complete product development lifecycle from conception through production execution.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational training or certification in footwear design, product development, or related field is preferred.
