Design Associate, Knits at Coach in New York—$70K–$80K. Develop luxury knitwear designs, manage creative mock-ups, collaborate with design leadership.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Senior Knitwear Designer to research and develop knit designs from initial swatch development to first prototype
  • Ensure timeline adherence and delivery of all products and seasonal concepts to meet key milestones and calendar dates
  • Create design flats and creative mock-ups using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Support creation of design cards to communicate clear technical information to suppliers
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Merchandising and Product Development teams
  • Manage and distribute seasonal line sheets
  • Support management of local development activities
  • Manage apprentice staff and maintain organization of the materials library and vintage knitwear archive

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Design or related field
  • 2–4 years of professional experience in knits design
  • Comprehensive knowledge of knits construction, including gauges, stitches, and yarns
  • Strong working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Proven ability to sketch and spec designs
  • Demonstrated strong color sense
  • Basic knit and embroidery skills with hands-on technical capability

Experience

Compensation

The base compensation for this position ranges from USD 70,000 to USD 80,000 per annum.
