Tapestry seeks Counsel, Commercial Contracts in New York to draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements supporting Coach and Kate Spade New York brands.
Role & Responsibilities
- Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements including supplier, service provider, consulting, technology, advertising, marketing, and wholesale customer agreements
- Provide legal advice and practical solutions regarding contract provisions and interpretation in support of fast-paced business operations
- Advise business clients across functional areas in writing and in-person to translate complex legal issues into understandable risk assessments and practical recommendations
- Advise stakeholders on legal trends, developing areas of law, industry developments and related risks impacting company operations
- Partner with internal stakeholders to develop and implement best practices and process improvements for vendor management and contract administration
- Ensure consistent evaluation of risk and policy alignment with business objectives through identification of critical legal issues and provision of analytical solutions
- Perform contract management duties including system utilization and report generation, incorporating AI tools into daily workflows
Qualifications
- Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school
- Admission and member in good standing of the New York bar
- Minimum two years of experience in commercial contract law
- Demonstrated experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating diverse commercial agreements
- Experience building, updating and refining contract policies and templates customized to business needs
- Sound judgment with proven ability to assess legal issues and risk under tight deadlines
- Strong ability to triage, prioritize and manage heavy workloads while meeting deadlines
- Direct experience advising business clients on transactions, preferably in an in-house legal environment
- Proficiency with contract management systems
- Proven ability to manage projects, prioritize work and respond to shifting priorities with minimal oversight
Skills
Experience
Minimum two years of experience in commercial contract law, including demonstrated proficiency in drafting and negotiating diverse commercial agreements. Preferred experience in a large, in-house legal environment with direct client advisory responsibilities and contract management system administration.
Education
Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school; admission and membership in good standing with the New York bar.
