Role & Responsibilities

  • Support Japan topline sales and gross margin forecasting; maintain and update monthly Net Sales and COGS forecasts in partnership with commercial leaders.
  • Perform variance analysis of Net Sales and COGS versus budget and forecast, identify drivers and provide concise, insightful commentary for stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain financial models and proforma P&L statements to evaluate capital investments and business development initiatives.
  • Deliver ad-hoc financial analysis to inform merchandising, planning and commercial decisions; quantify risks and opportunities.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with business development, merchandising, operations and corporate teams to align assumptions and implement solutions.
  • Communicate results and recommendations to business leaders, translating financial detail into actionable commercial guidance.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3–5 years of professional experience in a finance-related function; retail experience strongly preferred.
  • Business-level proficiency in both Japanese and English.
  • Advanced Excel skills; competent in preparing executive presentations with PowerPoint.
  • Proven ability in forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis and P&L ownership.
  • High level of intellectual curiosity, independent problem-solving, and comfort working in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.

Experience

3–5 years in corporate finance, FP&A or financial analysis roles, preferably within retail or consumer goods; demonstrable experience owning forecasting cycles and producing variance commentary for senior commercial stakeholders.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related discipline; MBA or professional finance qualification (CPA, CMA) is advantageous but not required.
