About TAG Heuer
TAG Heuer is a Swiss watchmaker recognised for technical innovation and precision engineering within the luxury sector. The maison is part of the LVMH group and combines heritage watchmaking craftsmanship with advanced materials and laboratory research to develop high-performance timepieces.
TAG Heuer — R&D CVD Intern in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. Six-month internship (July 2026) in materials R&D for carbon watch components.
Role & Responsibilities
- Perform literature review and state-of-the-art research on Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) techniques relevant to carbon-based watch components.
- Develop and run CVD deposition trials to fabricate next-generation carbon prototypes for horological components.
- Characterize produced samples using microscopy, thermal-property assessment and mechanical testing to quantify geometry and mechanical-property dispersion across process conditions.
- Analyse experimental data to identify process–property relationships and statistical variability; propose optimized fabrication parameter sets.
- Investigate and interpret the physical and chemical phenomena governing film growth and properties; synthesise findings into clear technical recommendations and reports for the Metallurgy Manager.
Qualifications
- Enrolled in a final-year Master's programme (M2) in Materials Science, Physics, Physical Chemistry, or a related engineering discipline.
- Practical laboratory experience with materials processing or characterization; prior exposure to thin-film or deposition processes is an advantage.
- Proficiency or working knowledge of data analysis; familiarity with Python for data processing is a strong plus.
- Curious, organised, rigorous, autonomous and motivated by hands-on experimental work.
Skills
Experience
Suitable for an early-career candidate or final-year Master's student. Laboratory experience and prior coursework or internships in materials characterization, thin films, or related experimental methods are desirable but not mandatory.
Education
Master's degree level (enrolled in or completing M2) in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry or equivalent.
Workplace
