The Watchmaker services movements and cases across Swatch Group brands, from diagnosis and repair through assembly and final customer-ready checks. The role reports to the Workshop Supervisor and requires the relevant apprenticeship or specialist watch-repair training, depending on repair scope.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Assemble case components and check that the case is waterproof.
  • Service watch movements, including dismantling, replacing or repairing broken parts, cleaning, reassembling, checking the rate and making adjustments.
  • Analyze movement issues and determine the appropriate repair methodology.
  • Use or develop suitable tools and processes to resolve issues arising during repairs.
  • Coordinate with the team to support smooth operations, maintain equipment and tools, and order consumables.
  • Ensure all required customer services have been completed and the watch is ready to wear.

Qualifications

  • For partial repairs, a watchmaking apprenticeship or a Basic Certificate in Watch Repair TAFE course.
  • For complete repairs, successful completion of a watchmaking apprenticeship.
  • For specialist repairs, specialist knowledge of complicated movements or successful completion of a post-apprenticeship course such as WOSTEP (Watchmakers of Switzerland Training and Education Programme).
  • Ability to service basic mechanical and quartz movements, as well as chronographs.

Compensation

The base compensation for this position ranges from USD 75,000 to USD 85,000 per annum.
