The Watchmaker services and repairs movements across multiple brands, from diagnosis and movement repair through case assembly and final preparation, while supporting workshop operations and ensuring each watch is ready to wear. The role reports to the Workshop Supervisor and focuses primarily on Swatch Group brands; the annual salary range is $75,000–$85,000.
Role & Responsibilities
- Perform full movement servicing, including dismantling, replacing or fixing broken parts, cleaning, reassembling, checking rates and making adjustments.
- Carry out technical repairs and servicing across multiple brands in accordance with brand guidelines.
- Analyze movement issues and determine the appropriate repair methodology.
- Use or develop suitable tools and processes to resolve issues arising during repairs.
- Coordinate with the team to support smooth workshop operations, maintain equipment and tools, and order consumables.
- Ensure all required customer services are completed and each watch is ready to wear.
- Manage the watch repair process from movement servicing through case preparation and assembly, and casing the movement.
Qualifications
- For partial repairs, complete a watchmaking apprenticeship or a Basic Certificate in Watch Repair TAFE course.
- For complete repairs, complete a watchmaking apprenticeship with satisfactory results.
- For specialist repairs, have specialist knowledge of complicated movements or complete a post-apprenticeship course, such as WOSTEP (Watchmakers of Switzerland Training and Education Programme), with satisfactory results.
- Be a team player.
