Swatch Group Australia — Assistant Accountant in Melbourne. Support month‑end close, AP/AR, reconciliations and financial reporting for leading watch brands.
Role & Responsibilities
- Support month‑end and year‑end close activities, including preparation and posting of journal entries and accruals.
- Process and reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions; ensure accurate and timely supplier and customer accounting.
- Perform bank, intercompany and general ledger reconciliations and investigate variances.
- Assist in preparation of statutory and internal reports, including GST/BAS submissions and supporting schedules.
- Maintain fixed asset register and assist with depreciation postings and asset reconciliations.
- Prepare documentation and schedules for external and internal audits; liaise with auditors and finance stakeholders as required.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (sales, operations, logistics) to resolve invoicing and credit issues and ensure alignment of transactional data.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent qualification.
- Part‑qualified or studying toward CPA/CA accreditation preferred.
- Working knowledge of Australian GST and BAS reporting.
- Strong numerical accuracy, attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines.
- Effective communicator with ability to liaise across functions and with external partners.
Skills
Experience
1–3 years of practical accounting or bookkeeping experience, preferably within a corporate finance team or in the retail/consumer goods sector; hands‑on experience with ERP systems and month‑end processes is expected.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Commerce or Finance; CPA/CA part‑qualified or working towards professional accreditation is desirable.
