Sephora Singapore seeks a Software Engineer (User) to develop backend systems for omni-channel ecommerce. 3+ years with Java 17+, Spring Boot, and microservices experience required.
Role & Responsibilities
- Design and develop robust backend services using Java 17+ and Spring Boot, contributing to clean and scalable distributed architectures
- Deliver reliable user and loyalty experiences across Sephora's ecommerce platforms serving customers in SEAO regions
- Participate in high-visibility projects that directly impact customer lifetime value and retention metrics
- Build and maintain event-driven integrations across microservices using Kafka or similar technologies
- Develop personalized and localized experiences for users across multiple countries in Southeast Asia and Oceania
- Leverage modern agentic AI tools in a structured manner to increase productivity and maintain high code quality
- Report to the Engineering Manager and collaborate with cross-functional teams on technical implementation
Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional experience building production-grade backend applications
- Strong proficiency with relational and non-relational databases, including PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MongoDB
- Solid understanding of the Java ecosystem including Hibernate, JDBC, Maven, and Gradle
- Familiarity with event streaming technologies such as Kafka and/or message queuing systems like RabbitMQ
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot)
- Familiarity with structured AI-assisted development practices
- Experience working in cloud environments such as AWS or GCP
