Sephora (San Francisco) seeks a Senior Director, Marketing Data Science to lead CRM and personalization analytics in a hybrid role.
Role & Responsibilities
- Define and establish Marketing Data Science as a strategic capability powering CRM, personalization, and marketing decisioning across the enterprise.
- Lead development and productionization of advanced predictive models (CLV, propensity, churn, 1:1 targeting) and own the machine learning roadmap for scalability and operational excellence.
- Manage and develop a high‑performing team (14 total; 4 direct reports, 10 indirect reports) including hiring, coaching, and career development.
- Partner with Technology and Machine Learning teams to integrate decisioning systems, ensure data quality, and align on execution of personalization capabilities.
- Drive a culture of experimentation using A/B testing and iterative optimization to translate analytics into commercial impact.
- Own marketing data foundation and governance efforts to ensure data transformation, quality, and enterprise alignment.
- Serve as the center of excellence for marketing analytics, delivering actionable insights that shape client engagement strategy and long‑term growth.
- Act as a strategic thought partner to senior leadership; influence cross‑functional stakeholders through clear storytelling and data fluency.
Qualifications
- 12+ years of progressive experience in marketing data science, analytics, or data architecture leadership roles.
- Proven experience building and scaling machine learning models for CRM and personalization use cases.
- Strong track record in lifecycle marketing analytics, segmentation, and customer lifetime value (CLV) modeling.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire, and develop diverse, high‑performing teams and to influence senior leaders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication with strong storytelling skills; ability to translate technical outputs into business recommendations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Analytics, or a related quantitative field (required).

Experience
Twelve or more years in marketing analytics/data science with demonstrated leadership of cross‑functional teams and hands‑on delivery of ML models for CRM, personalization, and lifecycle marketing. Experience managing ~14 people (mix of direct and indirect reports) and owning ML roadmaps at scale.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Analytics, or a related field.

The base compensation for this position ranges from USD 271,530 to USD 301,700 per annum.
